BE IT RESOLVED, that Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Block 26, Maplebrook Estates 2nd Addition in Brooklyn Park be declared surplus property; and?
BE IT RESOLVED, that those same properties be conveyed to the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority, consistent with Minn. Stat. § 465.035, and that following review and approval by the County Attorney’s Office, the Chair be authorized to sign the deed, and the County Administrator be authorized to sign all other documents associated with the conveyance(s) on behalf of the county.

Background:
The properties located at 7500-7520 Maplebrook Parkway North in Brooklyn Park (the “Properties”) were acquired by Hennepin County in 2018 for Capital Project 2923900 (CSAH 103 - West Broadway Avenue Reconstruction). The Properties consist of six adjacent vacant lots. The Properties were previously occupied by townhome buildings which were demolished to accommodate right of way needs and an access closure, related to the planned reconstruction of West Broadway Avenue and the construction of the Blue Line Extension Light Rail Transit Project (HC CIP 1005877) (“BLE”). ?Since 2018, the access has been removed and it has been determined that the remainder Properties are not needed for Hennepin County’s West Broadway Avenue reconstruction purposes. ?
This request proposes the necessary administrative steps to convey the Properties to the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (“HCRRA”) for general purposes allowed under the Regional Railroad Authorities Act, Minn. Stat. Section 398A. ?A companion Board Action Request accepting conveyance of the Properties from the County will be considered separately by HCRRA.
