BE IT RESOLVED, that Amendment 1 to Agreement A2111117 with the Bureau of Justice Assistance of the U.S. Department of Justice to continue to support services to individuals living with mental illness; extending the end date to September 30, 2025 with no changes to the agreement amount be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the agreement on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to accept and disburse funds as directed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that sponsorship and acceptance of grant funding for this program by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners does not imply a continued funding commitment by Hennepin County for this program when grant funds are no longer available.

Background:
This Department of Justice Mental Health Collaborative Grant is the third consecutive award made to Hennepin county and represents 9 years of funding totaling more than $1.5 Million dollars since 2015.
Through this project, Hennepin County has expanded the operations of the Behavioral Health Walk In Center located at 1800 Chicago. This center diverts individuals with behavioral health conditions away from involvement in the criminal justice system and into immediate and ongoing community support. Extension of the grant period allows utilization of the funds to support expanded hours and staffing. Grant funds will pay for a Case Management Assistant, a Social Worker, and partial funding of a Supervisor and Planner. The Behavioral Health Walk In Center will have 13,250 visits by the end of the grant period helping 500 residents with prior justice system involvement reduce detention bookings by 30%.
