BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreement A2311716 with the Wallace Foundation for adolescent youth development during the period of April 1, 2023 through March 31, 2024 in the receivable amount of $225,000 be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of Hennepin County; and that the Controller be authorized to accept and disburse funds as directed; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a supplemental appropriation be made to increase the Public Health Department's 2023 adopted budget by $150,000; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sponsorship and acceptance of grant funding for the program by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners does not imply a continued commitment by Hennepin County for this program when grant funds are no longer available

Background:
Through a request for proposal process, Public Health was awarded funds from the Wallace Foundation to support adolescent youth development. With this funding, Better Together Hennepin (BTH) will examine the barriers, strengths, and opportunities of the Health Mentor Model (HMM), a model that has been highly successful in high school settings, to better serve the developmental needs of younger adolescents in priority communities. HMM strategies include supporting innovative partnerships that serve youth and strengthen the communities in which they reside, learn about those partnerships' strengths, challenges, and opportunities for improvement and use what is learned to improve future Wallace initiatives. To do this, BTH will focus on three primary areas:
* Partner with Youthprise on a Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) project in three middle school sites where HMM middle school pilots are underway to identify needs and program strategies.
