BE IT RESOLVED, that pursuant to Minn. Stat. ? 383B.102(c)(3), the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners approves the appointment of Michael Herzing as the Chief Executive Officer of Hennepin Health, effective June 16, 2024.

Background:
Under Minn. Stat. ? 383B.102(c)(3) and the County's policy on Open and Unclassified Service Appointments, the county board approves appointments of personnel in the unclassified service.
The County Administrator is recommending Michael Herzing be appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Hennepin Health, effective 6/16/2024.

Mr. Herzing has over 30 years of experience as a of public and nonprofit sector health and human services leader. Since December, Mr. Herzing has been the interim Hennepin Health CEO. During this time, he has been instrumental in providing stability to the health plan, supporting staff, and ensuring uninterrupted services for Hennepin Health members.

Prior to this role, Mr. Herzing was a director in Human Services over the Access, Aging and Disability Services area, a role he has held for the last 9 years. Mr. Herzing came to Hennepin County Human Services in 2005 as a program manager and has held roles with progressive responsibility throughout his tenure at Hennepin County.

Before coming to Hennepin County, Mr. Herzing was the assistant director of social services in Guilford County in Greensboro, NC and held positions in administration, management and direct services for adult and child welfare services in Guilford County and North Carolina.

Mr. Herzing holds a Master of Arts in public affairs from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Science in counselor education from Canisius College and a Bachelor of Arts in political science from State University of New York.
