BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreement MDHA2412168 with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) for Mpox treatment and prevention during the period of February 6, 2024 through January 31, 2025 in the receivable amount of $88,000 be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of Hennepin County; and that the Controller be authorized to accept and disburse funds as directed; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a supplemental appropriation be made to increase the Public Health 2024 adopted budget by $88,000; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sponsorship and acceptance of grant funding for the program by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners does not imply a continued commitment by Hennepin County for this program when grant funds are no longer available.

Background:
Agreement MDHA2412168 will allow for Mpox Prevention Funding to continue to respond to Mpox infections and to prevent further infections through vaccination. This funding will help the Red Door Clinic sustain additional staffing that is needed to clinically respond with a special focus on gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men of color, transgender individuals, and people living with HIV.

Services related to this grant funding will be used to:
* Fund 1.0 Staff Nurse in the Red Door Clinic
* Provide Mpox/JYNNEOS vaccination to patients
* Clinically respond to new Mpox infections and provide treatment of side effects
* Red Door diagnosed the first Mpox case in the state of Minnesota

Mpox related accomplishments:
* Red Door was also the first clinic in the state to start prescribing Tpoxx, a medication that can lessen the morbidity of Mpox
