BE IT RESOLVED, that Amendment 2 to Agreement PR00002333 with Genex Services, LLC, for the provision of workers’ compensation claims billing services, extending the end date to October 31, 2027 and increasing the not to exceed amount by $760,000 for a new total not to exceed amount of $1,570,000 be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreement on behalf of the County; and that the Controller be authorized to disperse the funds as directed.

Background:
The Workers’ Compensation Unit of the Hennepin County Human Resources department handles workers’ compensation claims for both the county and Hennepin Healthcare. Included in that handling is the reviewing, fee scheduling and payment of injury related medical bills (fee scheduling is reducing the medical providers’ bills to a level of required payment under the workers’ compensation statute and rules).
Starting in 2017, the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry required that workers’ compensation insurers accept provider bills electronically. In November 2020, the county entered into an agreement with Genex, a third-party bill review service, to handle the electronically submitted bills and fee schedule them to comply with the statutory requirement.
Genex Services, LLC was selected through an RFP process and this amendment continues with the original services at rates, adjusted annually by inflation, to extend the contract through October 31, 2027.
