BE IT RESOLVED, that a contract be awarded to Global Specialty Contractors, Inc. for $806,274 to replace ornamental railings at various bridge locations, county project (CP) 2201000 - Safety and Asset Management 2024-2028; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.

Background:
The county is preserving and upgrading bridge assets at several locations in 2025. Ornamental railings will be replaced at the following locations along County State Aid Highways (CSAHs). These locations were selected because the existing railings were at the end of their useful lives.
* CSAH 61 (Northwest Boulevard) in Plymouth
o Bridge 27A11 over CP Railway
* CSAH 62 in Minnetonka and Eden Prairie
o Bridge 27A00 over TC & W Railway and the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority's Minnesota River Bluff LRT Regional Trail
o Bridge 27A01 at CSAH 4 (Eden Prairie Road)
o Bridge 27A12 over Purgatory Creek
o Bridge 27A13 over West Purgatory Creek
On February 25, 2025, five bids were received with the lowest responsive bid submitted by Global Specialty Contractors, Inc. Project funding is available in CP 2201000 - Safety and Asset Management 2024-2028, with expenditures being tracked in subproject 2201012 - Replace railings CSAH 4, 61, 62.
Current Request: This request is to award a contract to Global Specialty Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $806,274 to replace ornamental railings at various bridge locations.
