BE IT RESOLVED, that the conveyance of Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, Block 26, Maplebrook Estates 2nd Addition in Brooklyn Park from Hennepin County be accepted, and that following review and approval by the County Attorney’s Office, the Executive Director be authorized to sign all documents associated with the conveyance(s) on behalf of the Authority.

Background:
The properties located at 7500-7520 Maplebrook Parkway North in Brooklyn Park (the “Properties”) were acquired by Hennepin County in 2018 for Capital Project 2923900 (CSAH 103 - West Broadway Avenue Reconstruction). The Properties consist of six adjacent vacant lots. The Properties were previously occupied by townhome buildings which were demolished to accommodate right of way needs and access closure, related to the planned reconstruction of West Broadway Avenue and the construction of the Blue Line Extension Light Rail Transit Project (HCRRA Capital Project 1000941).
This request proposes the necessary administrative steps to convey the Properties to the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority (“HCRRA”) for general purposes allowed under the Regional Railroad Authorities Act, Minn. Stat. Section 398A. A companion Board Action Request authorizing conveyance of the Properties will be considered separately by Hennepin County. Following conveyance, HCRRA staff will manage the use and/or future disposition of the Properties.
Current Request: This request is for authorization to accept the conveyance of surplus properties from Hennepin County.
Impact/Outcomes: The conveyance will permit vacant surplus properties to be transferred to the Hennepin County Regional Railroad Authority.
