BE IT RESOLVED, that the award of Contract FC00000156 to Muska Electric Co. for the PSF Upgrade Fire Alarm System project (Sub Project 1004297, Capital Project 1002154), in the amount of $2,399,000 be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the county after the performance and payment bonds have been properly executed; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.

Background:
The Public Safety Facility (PSF), located in downtown Minneapolis, is a secure facility that includes a jail, two courthouses, and offices. The facility fire alarm panel and associated equipment is due for replacement. The project scope includes upgrades to the existing fire alarm system including replacement of existing panels, remote annunciators, workstation and printer, initiating devices, annunciation devices, and manual pull stations.


Through a best value procurement process, a Request for Proposals was released on July 16, 2024. Two (2) proposals were received. Based on the results of interviews, cost, and written submittals, Muska Electric Co., received the highest score, and is recommended for this project.

This is a request to award a contract to Muska Electric Co. for the PSF Upgrade Fire Alarm System project, in the amount of $2,399,000.

Impact/Outcomes:
This project will replace a critical life safety system at the Public Safety Facility.
