BE IT RESOLVED, that Amendment 1 to Agreement PR00006444 with the Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI) to provide community engagement and the creation of a community garden, increasing the contract amount by $12,300 to a new total not to exceed amount of $156,530, be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Amendment on behalf of the County; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.

Background:
On July 30, 2024, the Board approved Contract PR00006444 with Native American Community Development Institute (NACDI) to support the Growing Communities program within Climate and Resiliency. As part of our Growing Communities program, the NACDI manages three sites that expand access to fresh produce, reduce urban heat island effects, and promote green spaces in under resourced neighborhoods.
NACDI maintains 20 raised beds that support food production and meaningful community involvement. They provide culturally relevant engagement, outreach, and programming that employs and empowers Native American residents in urban agriculture. As needs grow beyond initial funding, NACDI remains an essential partner in delivering culturally specific services aligned with the vision of Growing Communities.
