BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreement MDAA2311984 with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) for Minnesota Local Food Purchase Assistance Health Promotion Program, from November 01, 2023 through September 15, 2025, in the receivable amount of $77,374.40, be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the agreement on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to accept and disburse funds as directed; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that sponsorship and acceptance of grant funding for this program by the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners does not imply a continued funding commitment by Hennepin County for this program when grant funds are no longer available.

Background:
The Hennepin Farm to Community project will work toward advancing health equity through strategic partnerships and community engagement to buy and distribute healthy, culturally relevant foods in low resourced communities. The county will partner with three city partners (Brooklyn Center, Crystal, and Robbinsdale) to purchase fruits and vegetables directly from farmers’ market vendors who are disadvantaged or emerging farmers. The cities will distribute the produce with low barrier to access and at no cost to their residents.
This action supports the county’s disparity reduction efforts in the health domain by advancing health equity by providing healthy, culturally relevant foods to residents.
