WHEREAS, this year National Volunteer Recognition Week takes place from April 20 through April 26 and provides an opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of volunteers; and
WHEREAS, Hennepin County has welcomed volunteer engagement opportunities for over 50 years, and thousands of community members, employees, and partnering organizations have volunteered in our communities, utilizing their time and talents daily to make a real difference in the lives of residents; and
WHEREAS, in 2024 2,767 Hennepin County volunteers have given 80,753 hours of their time; and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County’s Volunteer Services team’s mission is to inspire county employees and volunteers to build a strong presence and reputation for social responsibility within the community, and works to bring employees and volunteers together to identify needs and engage with services that make a difference in our resilient and diverse community; and
WHEREAS, it is important to acknowledge the efforts of volunteers and inspire others to get involved.
Resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners recognizes the commitment and contributions of our volunteers who support the county’s mission and vision and proclaim April 20 through 26, 2025 as Volunteer Recognition Week in Hennepin County.
