BE IT RESOLVED, that the County Administrator be authorized to negotiate Amendment 2 to Agreement PRR00005174 with Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. Attorneys at Law for the provision of legal services, no change to contract dates, increasing the not to exceed amount by $275,000 for a new total not to exceed amount of $475,000; that following review and approval by the County Attorney’s Office, the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Amendment on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.

Background:
On February 27, 2023, the County received a notice of claim from several current and former
employees in the Sheriff’s Office, alleging potential legal claims against the County and former Sheriff David Hutchinson. The potential claims relate to the former sheriff’s conduct during his tenure. Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. previously provided legal services to the County and is well situated to provide cost-effective legal services to the County in the defense of this new claim and any related matters. Agreement PR00004910 was originally executed for the period of March 9, 2023 through December 31, 2024 in the not to exceed amount of $200,000 via Resolution No. 23-0131.
• Amendment 1 extended the end date to 12/31/2026.
