BE IT RESOLVED, that Agreements PR00006138 with Summit Orthopedics LTD., doing business as, Minnesota Occupational Health in the not to exceed amount of $700,000; and PR00006137 with Group Health Plan, Inc., doing business as, HealthPartners Occupational Medicine in the not to exceed amount of $300,000, for the provision of Occupational Medicine Services during the period July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2027 be approved; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the Agreements on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse funds as directed.

Background:

Federal and state occupational safety laws and regulations require the county to assess employees that may encounter job-related hazards. Medical and physical assessments are conducted to verify an individual’s fitness for their designated duties and to identify any negative health effects resulting from contact with hazardous materials and agents at work. Examinations must be performed or overseen by professionals Board certified in occupational medicine. The purpose of the contracts is to preserve employee health, reduce workers' compensation liability, and meet legal requirements. Each agreement is available for use county-wide and departments were solicited for feedback on the services needed. Federal (DOT) and non-federal drug and alcohol testing services for employees in safety sensitive positions are also provided via these contracts.

Current Request: This request seeks approval for Agreements PR00006138 and PR00006137 for occupational medicine services in the total not to exceed amount of $1,000,000. Each agreement may be utilized countywide and is funded by the operating budgets of the users’ departments.
