BE IT RESOLVED, that a contract be awarded to  Concrete Idea, Inc. for $1,060,252.50 to construct accessible pedestrian ramps and signal improvements at various locations within the county, project 2201019 - 2025 Ped Ramp Project Phase 4, a subproject of capital project 2201000; that the Chair of the Board be authorized to sign the contract on behalf of the county; and that the Controller be authorized to disburse the funds as directed.

Background:

The county is improving accessibility at several locations in conjunction with pavement preservation work. Pedestrian ramps and signals will be upgraded to current ADA standards along the following County State Aid Highways (CSAHs):

 

                     CSAH 5 (Franklin Avenue) between Milwaukee Avenue and 30th Avenue in Minneapolis

                     CSAH 17 (France Avenue) between W 51st Street and Sunnyside Road in Minneapolis and Edina

                     CSAH 36 (University Avenue) at Emerald Street in Minneapolis

                     CSAH 152 (Cedar Avenue) between E 52nd Street/W Lake Nokomis Parkway and E 46th Street in Minneapolis

                     CSAH 152 (Cedar Avenue) between 19th Avenue and Riverside Avenue in Minneapolis

 

The work will be completed by Concrete Idea, Inc., which was the lowest responsive bid. Project funding is available in capital project 2201000 - Safety and Asset Management, with expenses tracked in subproject 2201019 - 2025 Ped Ramp Project Phase 4.

 

Current Request: This request is to award a contract to Concrete Idea, Inc. in the amount of $1,060,252.50 for project 2201019 - 2025 Ped Ramp Project Phase 4, a subproject of capital project 2201000 - Safety and Asset Management.

 

Impacts/Outcomes: This action supports the county’s American with Disabilities Act Transition Plan by improving accessibility for all people who use these corridors
