Background:
In 2022, Hennepin County applied for and was awarded $240,000 in federal funding through the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program, which was established by the IIJA, also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Resolution 23-0322). In 2024, the county applied for and was awarded $60,000 in State Funded Program for IIJA Discretionary Grant Assistance funds. This funding is available to IIJA grant recipients for transportation-related purposes.
An executed agreement with MnDOT is required to receive the funds. The county will use the grant award as the local match to develop the Hennepin County Toward Zero Deaths Action Plan.
