BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hennepin County Board of Commissioners appoints Patricia Fitzgerald to the unclassified position of Director of Facility Operations, effective August 10, 2025.

Background:
The County Board Open Appointments Policy and MN Statutes Section 383B.102 require that appointments to unclassified service have confirmation by the Board of County Commissioners.
Following an internal recruitment process, the County Administrator is recommending Patricia Fitzgerald be appointed as the Director of Facility Operations, effective August 10, 2025.
Ms. Fitzgerald brings over 16 years of County experience spearheading a variety of initiatives. She led the development and implementation of Hennepin County’s economic recovery strategy by establishing a vision for inclusive economic development and her leadership has resulted in tangible advancements in business growth, entrepreneur development, and the small business support ecosystem.
In her most recent role as the Director of Economic Development Strategy, she led staff in the management, planning, and coordination of operations to ensure programs advance inclusive business growth and enhance resident quality of life in compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Prior to her employment with Hennepin County, Ms. Fitzgerald led the planning, design, and construction of real estate development projects with a local development firm. Her project portfolio includes new construction and adaptive reuse of multi-tenant commercial buildings, mixed-use residential and commercial buildings, and single use tenant spaces.
Ms. Fitzgerald has a Master of Arts from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and a Bachelor of Arts, from Rhodes College, Memphis, Tennessee.
